Applied Communication Sciences Lands Cyber Security Research Program with Army Research Labs
Research Will Fundamentally Advance Army's Inter-Disciplinary Understanding of Emerging Cyber Security Phenomena
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Communication Sciences (ACS) has been awarded the Cyber Security Applied Research and Experimentation Partner (AR&EP) Program, under the direction of the Army Research Lab (ARL). This extensive program focuses on developing innovative cyber experimentation approaches in order to validate and transition basic research being performed in parallel on the ARL Cyber Security CRA (Collaborative Research Alliance) by a consortium of universities.
"The Army's networks and information systems are extraordinarily complex and dynamic," notes ACS President, Steve Omick. "In dealing with increasingly sophisticated threats and diverse defense mechanisms, being able to experimentally validate models and theories is essential to advancing the Army's cyber security superiority."
The 5-year, $48.5M single-award IDIQ contract highlights ACS's leadership in the cyber experimentation space and significantly expands its customer base and academic partnerships in that area of knowledge. As part of this win, ACS will become a member of the above-mentioned ARL cyber security research alliance and is expected to receive an additional award for basic research in cyber science, to be performed in collaboration with the university consortium.
Note: While the project described in this news release is supported by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the content of this release does not necessarily reflect the position or the policy of the U.S. Government, and no official endorsement should be inferred.
