Applications Now Being Accepted for SBS 17th Annual Conference & Exhibition Academic Travel Awards

CHICAGO, Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society for Biomolecular Sciences, now officially the Biomolecular Sciences Section of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), invites students, graduate students, post-doctoral associates and junior faculty to apply for an SLAS Academic Travel Award to be used for the SBS 17th Annual Conference & Exhibition, March 27-31, 2011, in Orlando, FL, USA.

Applicants must be the primary author of a submitted abstract, and if selected, must present their research as part of a special poster session at the conference. A complete list of required application materials can be found at SLAS.org/events/sbs11/academic_travel.cfm.

Award applications are reviewed by members of the SLAS Academic Travel Award Working Group and are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: quality of the abstract, relevance of the research to SBS 2011, statement of value of the conference and qualifications of the applicant. Award recipients will receive coach airfare booked through the official SLAS travel agent (or mileage reimbursement in lieu of airfare), full conference registration and shared accommodations at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, provided by the SLAS housing office.

Focusing on drug discovery and screening, SBS 2011 offers educational sessions about the latest trends and basic and applied research that are transforming the way new pharmaceuticals are developed. This five-day event hosts more than 200 exhibitors and approximately 2,000 scientists, innovators, researchers and industry analysts from around the globe.
