Applications Available for Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan (PTSL) Program
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Jan. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan (PTSL) is a competitive, merit-based scholarship-loan program available to high school seniors and current undergraduate students who have chosen to enter the teaching profession. The application is available at CFNC.org/PTSL. The deadline for 2011-12 scholarships is April 15, 2011.
The annual PTSL award is $2,500 per year if the student is a freshman or a sophomore, and $4,000 per year for juniors and seniors. Recipients agree to teach one year in a N.C. public school for each year of funding they receive or repay the funds in cash with interest.
Only students who will enroll in a teacher preparation program at an eligible North Carolina college or university and plan to pursue a degree that leads to teacher licensure as a certified teacher are eligible to apply.
