AppDynamics Opens its Application Management Platform with AppDyamics eXchange Ecosystem and AppSphere User Community
"AppSphere" and "AppDynamics eXchange" enables IT operations and developers to share best practices and introduce new innovations for application performance management
SAN FRANCISCO, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AppDynamics, Inc., the next-generation application performance management (APM) solution that simplifies the management of complex apps, today announced that it is opening up its application management platform for developers and application support professionals, allowing them to develop and exchange new monitoring, alerting and cloud scaling plugins via AppDynamics eXchange – an ecosystem for developers to build and share custom plugins – as well as AppSphere, an open community for sharing ideas and best practices.
AppSphere is an open community that serves as a one-stop learning destination for the AppDynamics user base as well as any IT professional who wishes to join. It enables application support teams to trade ideas, share best practices, and explore new trends in application performance management, such as issues pertaining to managing complex applications, Java/.NET/PHP performance tips, DevOps, and more.
At the same time, AppDynamics also introduced AppDynamics eXchange (or AppDynamics X for short)—where users of AppDynamics and third-party developers can access, create, and share plugins, integrations, and extensions for AppDynamics Pro. Representative plugins include integrations with popular IT operations tools such as PagerDuty, Splunk, Nagios, and Boundary; it also includes cloud scaling connectors for Amazon, Rackspace, VMWare, Windows Azure, and more. AppDynamics engineers anticipate continuing to add their own solutions to the platform as well as receiving submissions from the AppSphere community. The extensions and plugins themselves will reside in an open-source Github repository.
AppDynamics provides the most flexible and scalable platform for application management data and is uniquely suited for enabling AppDynamics users and third-party developers to extend and build their own applications. AppDynamics X APIs provide the ability to bring in custom metrics and events and leverage all of AppDynamics' data analysis and correlation abilities. AppDynamics X APIs also provide the ability to build custom alerts, custom remediation mechanisms, and custom visualizations. Users can leverage AppDynamics X APIs to track, graph, alert, and correlate metrics from any component of their application infrastructure – such as cloud platforms, databases, caches, queues, and hardware – in an easy and scalable manner.
"The AppDynamics customer base is passionate, as evidenced by our Net Promoter Score of 81 and the worldwide demand for our solution. Therefore, we're happy to further empower both AppDynamics customers as well as application support teams everywhere with our AppSphere community and AppDynamics X platform," said Jyoti Bansal, Founder & CEO of AppDynamics. "We believe that the best ideas and insights are generated through conversation and collaboration, and that's why we've made these communities available to those with a vested stake in the performance of critical applications. We look forward to seeing\ what new innovations arise from their engagement, participation, and dialogue."
