Appboy Expands Platform With Webhooks
Brands Can Now Target and Connect With Users Through SMS via Twilio, Social, Proprietary Channels and Much More
NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Appboy, the leader in Mobile Marketing Automation, announced today it has added webhooks support to its platform. Webhooks will provide Appboy clients like Nextplus and many others with a variety of new ways to easily link technologies together to connect their marketing campaigns in real-time with other services and applications, like Twitter, Marketo, or SMS via communications platform Twilio.
This capability will eliminate workflow challenges, enabling Appboy clients to schedule and send SMS messages or notifications on platforms like Twilio directly from the Appboy dashboard, without typical API integration coding or programming requirements. The integration of Twilio will provide Appboy clients with the ability to send text messages to their audiences across the globe.
"Our partnership with Appboy's adoption of Twilio is a great opportunity for us to drive SMS for a mobile marketing automation platform," said Leslie Henthorn, senior marketing manager at Twilio. "Through webhooks, the integration is seamless and will provide marketers with another powerful messaging channel to use in their campaigns."
"With the addition of webhooks to the Appboy platform, we will be able to send custom marketing messages directly to our customers via our UI while also leveraging Appboy's segmentation, targeting and testing capabilities," said Erik Tarui, VP of Marketing & CRM, Nextplus. "This will be incredibly valuable for us as we try to optimize in-app communication with our audience."
Appboy customers will find a list of additional webhooks within the platform, and can now segment and target users on any channel, including SMS or social mediums like Facebook or Twitter. In addition, the Appboy platform will include the ability for marketers to use retargeting and action-based campaigns through the use of webhooks. For instance, an app could use API calls to their system to activate credits on customer accounts after reaching certain milestones.
"Webhooks will help marketers connect the dots between technologies, allowing them to take greater action on customer behaviors," said Bill Magnuson, CTO and co-founder of Appboy. "Our clients experience is of utmost importance, and for situations that require urgency, such as status updates for on-demand or delivery services, SMS and proprietary messaging platforms like WeChat or KaKao are an important fallback when push notifications are not an option."
