Apolitical Adds Violence Prevention to Its Global Peer-to-Peer Platform
STOCKHOLM, Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Apolitical, supported by grant funding from the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children (End Violence) officially launched its "Violence Prevention global policy topic." The Violence Prevention policy topic sits next to, and intersects with, other global policy topics such as Women's Empowerment, Innovative Public Partnerships, Data for Impact and Inclusive Economies.
Apolitical's unique platform, used by public servants in over 120 countries, connects public servants to the innovators behind the projects – breaking down institutional silos and facilitating engagement and collaboration.
The launch of the policy topic coincides with the "Agenda 2030 for Children End Violence Solutions Summit," sponsored by End Violence, WeProtect Global Alliance and the Government of Sweden. With more than 65 countries represented, the Summit brings together governments, the United Nations, civil society, the private sector, academics and children themselves to design and share solutions for preventing and responding to violence against boys and girls. Solutions are aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal 16.2 and related targets.
"The collaboration with Apolitical will prove an invaluable resource in our efforts to shape a world where every child grows up free from violence," said Susan Bissell, founding director of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children. "The expertise and network-building capabilities of the Apolitical platform will serve as a critical tool for End Violence's pathfinding countries to connect, learn and share their successes in a high-tech and high-touch way."
"We hear from public servants and policymakers around the world about the need to connect with others who are working on ending violence against children as part of their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals," said Apolitical co-founder and Executive Chairman Lisa Witter. "Apolitical puts the best solutions and the connections they need at the fingertips of public servants, wherever they are in the world."
The Violence Prevention topic already features case studies, analyses and opinion pieces from almost 20 countries and connections to more than 80 innovative public servants and experts who have made them happen. Issues covered range from self-defense to fighting sexual harassment, tackling violent crime and corporal punishment. Content is written by Apolitical journalists and overseen by an outside editorial board of violence prevention experts. The sponsor has no editorial control.
