The milestone means the aggregate of individual trades within the fund hit $1 billion, and at the current rate of trading, the company believes it may double or triple its trading volume in 2014.
"This is a significant milestone for Apiary Fund," said Shawn Lucas, founder and CEO. "Our trading rates are dependent on volume and with this kind of volume we gain better rates and more leverage to shave off fees. Every penny is a significant saving in the currency exchange market."
The $1 billion mark will allow Apiary Fund to attract more banks for liquidity, drive down the cost of transactions and increase leverage with its current banking partners.
"The $1 billion milestone marks the confidence our traders have in our fund," said Lucas. "To get to $1 billion in transaction flow you need to have a lot of people who can use our capital to trade successfully."
Once a trader learns to trade at Apiary, they have the option to go anywhere. The fact they stay with the Apiary Fund demonstrates the level of confidence they have in it. They see the value Apiary Fund provides. The value is found in the fund itself. The announcement joins a series of 2013 milestones the company achieved:
