Apex Launches European and African Smart Grid Market Strategy

HERNDON, Va., April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Apex CoVantage, a global provider of Smart Grid technology and services, is pleased to announce that Anthony Howells, former Vice President of Business Development, has recently been named Managing Director, Europe and Africa. 

Howells, who has been with Apex for more than five years, has been a leader in the founding of the company's Smart Grid Solutions division.  He has served many roles including Business Development Manager, Project Manager, Consultant and Team Lead. As the newly appointed Managing Director, Mr. Howells will implement Apex's local business strategy, build sales channels and partnerships, and ensure high standards in safety and quality for the day-to-day operations in these two emerging markets.

Europe and Africa are future hotbeds for Smart Grid modernization and two regions of particular interest to Apex with consideration to global expansion strategy.  Over the next ten years, hundreds of millions of meters throughout Europe will be retrofitted with Smart Meters.  Government mandates in the U.K., Austria and the Netherlands will require all electric and gas meters to be upgraded to Smart Meters.  In Africa, countries will likely bypass older technologies, in favor of advanced Smart Grid solutions, like those offered by Apex.
