Apex Exteriors Is Making Strides With The Owens Corning™ Roofing Preferred Contractor Shingle Recycling Pledge
SOUTH BELOIT, Ill., April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- South Beloit based Apex Exteriors has taken the Owens Corning™ Roofing Preferred Contractor Shingle Recycling Pledge – announcing their commitment to recycle torn-off asphalt shingles. Their commitment to turn old roofs into new roads has resulted in over 1,250 Tons of recycled shingles. This effort would result in enough conserved oil for an average vehicle to drive over 1 million miles.
Apex has been making strides in "going green" since their inception in 2006 but most recently joined efforts with Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt Shingle Recycling Program to formalize their recycling process. Just last year alone, Apex recycled over 900 of their roofing jobs which is close to recycling 100% of over 1,000 households annual waste. With the recent April 12th hail storm that damaged local homes in Rockford, Poplar Grove, Marengo, Belvidere, Lake in the Hills and Barrington, Apex is looking forward to assisting homeowners in restoring their homes while making significant impacts on the environment by offering homeowners sustainable repairs for their valued property investments.
Launched in 2009, the Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt Shingle Recycling Program was the first initiative of its kind in the roofing industry to bring together homeowners and contractors committed to reducing the amount of shingle waste that ends up in local landfills. Now – after just four years – the program has recycled more than one million tons of asphalt shingles. In addition, the program continues to expand with current availability in over 100 markets.
"As a roofing company with over 10 years industry experience serving both the South Beloit region and nationwide, Apex is honored to participate in the Owens Corning™ Roofing Preferred Contractor Shingle Recycling Program," said Jim Stringham, President of Apex Exteriors. "We strive to provide our homeowners with the best quality and service for their home repairs. It only makes sense to carry out that commitment to our community and build a sustainable recycling program for that is best for everyone's future."
