Apartment Guide Announces Winners of Annual College Scholarship Contest

ATLANTA, July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Apartment Guide is pleased to announce that Ryan Jinks of Memphis, TN, and Alaina Martine of Chico, CA, are the recipients of the Fall 2019 Apartment Guide Scholarship Contest. Ryan and Alaina will each receive $2,500 to help offset education-related expenses. Prize money can be used to pay for housing, books, tuition, study-abroad or other education-related expenses for the upcoming Fall 2019 semester. Ryan is a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, and Alaina attends California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Acknowledging the challenge Americans face in paying for college education, Apartment Guide launched the scholarship contest in September 2018. As part of the application process, entrants were asked to submit a 500-600 word essay on the topic "What is your responsibility towards ending homelessness?". The nationwide field was narrowed to eight finalists who were then asked to create a short video to accompany their essays. Finalists' essays and companion videos were posted on ApartmentGuide.com and winners were chosen based on popular vote and judging criteria.
