AP Telecom - Milner Weiss to Convert Debt into Equity Ownership for Asia-Pacific Data, Voice, and Data Center Services
Global telecommunications consulting and service company gains key capital investment to drive strategic growth and expansion.
NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AP Telecom, a facilities-based telecom consulting and service company specializing in emerging markets, today announced that Milner Weiss, a management consulting and corporate finance advisory service, had converted its debt to equity ownership at a pre-determined strike price.
Milner Weiss chose to option AP Telecom's convertible debt into equity after careful analysis of the data and voice traffic on AP Telecom's network and its proven ability to provide world-class support to United States-based and Asian-regional carriers.
"This strategic investment is an endorsement of the management team and advisory board of AP Telecom, which is critical to running the data and voice traffic that customers demand and adds to the momentum achieved since launching earlier this year. The combination of emerging market demand for unified communication services will continue to grow and we believe AP Telecom is positioning itself with strong relationships and execution of its immediate and mid-term business plan," said Sandor Weiss, Managing Director and CEO of Milner Weiss.
"We are very excited to partner with Milner Weiss, and believe our rapid regional success and global expansion plans are an excellent fit with Milner Weiss's selective investment approach on high return assets within and outside of China," said John Hibbard, Advisory Board Member of AP Telecom and President of Pacific Telecommunications Council.
Today's announcement follows a string of milestone achievements for AP Telecom since its launch in the first quarter of this year. Over the past eight months, the company has grown its client roster, including call centers, BPOs and ISPs worldwide. The company also expanded its international customer base and global presence by providing services in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland and South Africa, and appointing industry veterans from international countries to its executive advisory board. AP Telecom has also experienced a significant increase in traffic, including a diverse GIG-E managed wavelength of data customer and core traffic for global low latency traffic running on the AP Telecom Network from Asia to the United States. Additionally, AP Telecom has seen its live voice traffic increase to approximately 30 million voice minutes per month and is currently on track for 350 million annually.

The business was conceived on the basis of providing capital for under-served market of small and medium sized enterprises and potential partners and investors for these companies in Asia. These organizations are "below the radar" of the larger consulting firms and investment banks due to their size and the quantum of fees that their transactions typically generate. In 2006, Milner Weiss added its consulting division, Shanghai DYS Investment Co. to serve the market demand for infrastructure consulting and procurement services generated by the reputation and experience of our senior management. Milner Weiss has served a wide variety of clients in the Asia Pacific region and, in particular, the Greater China area. Our senior management has served public and private companies, multinational corporations, management groups and government entities by providing independent advice on procurement, logistics, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings and private financings. www.milnerweiss.com
