WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- AP Intego Insurance Group, a national technology-enabled small business insurance agency today announced that Rich Femia, a student at Bryant University and a summer intern at AP Intego, has been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 academic scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year, from The Council Foundation.
"We couldn't be prouder of Rich and everything he has contributed to AP Intego. His 'can do' attitude and willingness to jump right into any project embodies the spirit of a successful internship program," said Steve Hauck, Managing Director of AP Intego. "We are a fast growing business with multiple priorities and Rich was always raising his hand to help and add value to our enterprise. We're thankful that the Council recognizes emerging talent in our industry. The Council Foundation is clearly an advocate in supporting the educational goals of our members and providing career opportunities for our future leaders."
The Council Foundation's mission is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with member firms of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. In awarding the scholarships, an independent selection committee looks for candidates who have the potential to excel as leaders and contributors in the commercial insurance brokerage business sector.
Femia is one of 75 college students across the country who received a Council Foundation scholarship this year. He is majoring in accounting with a minor in communication.
"Commercial insurance brokerage is a career choice that is flush with job opportunities for young college graduates," said Ken A. Crerar, president/CEO of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. "It is estimated that the broader insurance industry will need to fill 400,000 positions by 2020 due to impending retirements. When student interns knock on our door, it is important to promote our industry as one that is looking for versatile skill sets and creativity, while providing good-paying jobs that support the community and opportunities for excellent work-life balance."
The Council Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization instituted by the Washington, D.C.-based Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. Part of the Foundation's core mission is to secure the future of the commercial insurance brokerage business by attracting and developing tomorrow's talent, like Rich Femia.
