Anytime Fitness Ranked #1 Fitness Business Franchise
Entrepreneur Magazine Also Ranks Anytime Fitness #11 Overall on its "Franchise 500" List
HASTINGS, Minn., Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anytime Fitness, the world's largest and fastest-growing co-ed fitness club chain, is ranked #11 (up from #18 last year) on Entrepreneur magazine's annual "Franchise 500" list. Opening new clubs at a rate of nearly one every business day while serving more than 1,400,000 members worldwide, Anytime Fitness is also ranked #1 in the "Fitness Businesses" category by Entrepreneur.
According to Entrepreneur, the most important factors for inclusion on its "Franchise 500" list are: financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system.
"Considering the reputation and status of the other franchises ranked in the top 10, including Subway, McDonalds, and Hampton Hotels, this is a tremendous honor for Anytime Fitness," said Chuck Runyon, CEO and co-founder of Anytime Fitness. "We're especially pleased for our franchisees who work so hard to build their own businesses while helping their members lead healthier lifestyles. With our continued expansion plans including growth internationally we're looking forward to muscling our way into the 'Franchise 500' top 10 next year."
In addition to continued rapid growth, rankings and awards, Runyon is the co-author of a new book provocatively titled "Working out Sucks," a 21-day kick-start plan for total health and fitness, which will be released January 3. Runyon and Anytime Fitness co-founder Dave Mortensen will also be profiled in an upcoming episode of "Secret Millionaire" on ABC-TV next season. The airdate for the show has yet to be determined.
Anytime Fitness also was recently named one of "10 great franchise bets" by CNNMoney (June, 2011) and the "#1 Best Franchise Business Model" by FranchiseChatter.com.
In the last 12 months alone, Anytime Fitness has opened nearly 300 clubs worldwide, including clubs in New Zealand, Poland, Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the company's 100th club in Australia. Anytime Fitness' first Middle Eastern club is set to open in Qatar in early 2012.
