Anyone Anywhere Can Host Holiday Donation Drive for Youth in Foster Care
Visit Treehouse's website to sign up and receive toolkit
SEATTLE, Nov. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Bring joy to children and youth in foster care this holiday season by hosting a donation drive through Treehouse. The nonprofit makes the holidays brighter for thousands of youth in care statewide, and local community support is absolutely critical.
"We'll provide the proper materials and guidance for a successful drive that gets everyone in the holiday spirit," said Dana Petrarca, Community Engagement Officer at Treehouse. "It's easy, fun and has such an impact on our most vulnerable youth."
Holiday donation drives are essential to Treehouse's mission of giving youth in foster care a childhood and a future. The drives raise money to fund extracurricular activities—such as sports or music lessons—which allow youth access to the important experiences everyone deserves. Donation drives also ensure Treehouse is stocked with holiday gifts and essential items.
Any organization, individual or family can host a holiday donation drive. To get started, visit www.treehouseforkids.org/holiday to sign up or visit www.treehouseforkids.org and click "Donate" to give directly.
Treehouse will provide a toolkit that has everything needed including:
- A unique online donation page.
- Instructions, tips and tricks, and helpful information.
- Various ways to share about Treehouse and the drive.
- A poster and a wish list.
- Donation gift tags.
Donation drives are simple to set up and host online by anyone regardless of location. Treehouse suggests setting a $500 goal, and the goal can be adjusted to fit any size group. Support for in-kind donation drives focused on clothing and other essential items also is available.
Here is Treehouse's holiday wish list which includes everything from new shoes to superhero toys and electronics. At any given time, there are between 9,000 and 10,000 youth in foster care throughout Washington state.
Any individual or organization interested in hosting a holiday donation drive can contact Dana at 206.267.5109 or [email protected] for more information.
