Anthem Blue Cross Serves up Healthy Offerings at The L.A. County Fair

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Each fall, great food, an array of concerts, special shows and even pig racing draw people from around the state to the Fairplex in Pomona for the L.A. County Fair. This year, fair attendees should add the Anthem Blue Cross activity zone and HealthFair bus to their must see list on October 2 and 3.  

Anthem Blue Cross is raising awareness around the importance of health and wellness and demonstrating that you can still enjoy in all the Fair has to offer even indulging in great food there and year round. The key is moderation and incorporating a balanced diet and exercise throughout the year.

In the new Anthem activity zone, visitors can take advantage of a variety of fun hands on activities that families can do together including playing eight person ping pong, hopscotch and Nintendo Wii as well as jumping rope and hula hooping, to help promote healthy, active lifestyles.

Visitors to the activity zone can actually calculate their Health Footprint(sm). Knowing their Health Footprint score helps visitors determine the impact their behaviors have on their own health and the health of their social network, such as their family and circle of friends. Unlike a carbon footprint, which focuses on reduction, the bigger a Health Footprint score is, the more health influence someone has on those around them.

Onboard the custom Anthem Blue Cross HealthFair Bus, visitors will receive a free health evaluation consisting of a full lipid panel blood test; height, weight and waist measurements; blood pressure test; and Body Mass Index analysis. The tests help provide a snapshot of one's personal health. The HealthFair screening bus is staffed by medical technicians and others who can help answer visitor questions.

Anthem is pleased to announce that fitness guru and celebrity trainer Bob Harper from the popular television show The Biggest Loser, will be on hand, Saturday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet visitors at the Anthem activity zone. Harper has been involved for the past year in helping Anthem reach out to thousands of Anthem members with valuable health and wellness information.
