ANSI Announces 2017 Student Paper Competition Focusing on "The World in 2050"
Submission Deadline Is April 28
NEW YORK, Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in conjunction with its Committee on Education (CoE), is pleased to announce its sixth annual student paper competition as part of its ongoing efforts to spread awareness among postsecondary students of the strategic significance of standards and conformance. The competition calls for applicants for submissions that exemplify the 2017 theme: The World in 2050.
Entries are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 28, 2017, and must be written and submitted by college or university student(s) at the associate, undergraduate, or graduate level enrolled in a U.S. academic institute of higher learning. The competition is open to both full- and part-time students of all disciplines.
Standards and technical regulations are unsung heroes – while they impact more than 93 percent of global trade, they often go unnoticed by the general public. The student paper competition asks applicants to glimpse into the future and consider how standards—which support innovations such as the Internet of Things, smart phones, robotics, and more—will continue to shape the world in 2050. Submissions should demonstrate specific examples of how standards can influence our advancement: What role will standards have on products, services, and systems on a global scale in years to come?
Papers must not exceed 2,000 words and must be formatted in accordance with the submission criteria in the paper competition flyer linked below. All submissions will be reviewed by top-level industry experts, and winning papers will be published on ANSI.org, StandardsBoostBusiness.org, StandardsLearn.org, and potentially in other media outlets. Winning submissions will be read by a large number of members of the standards community, including experts in government, industry, professional societies, and academic institutions.
Cash prizes will be given to first- and second-place winners; ANSI reserves the right to award no prizes based on the determination of the judges. Winning papers will be announced in June 2017.
For full submission criteria, view the ANSI 2017 Student Paper Competition flyer. Email entries by Friday, April 28, 2017, to [email protected].
