Anritsu LMR Master™ Enhanced with APCO P25 Phase 2 Testing, Expanded NBFM Analysis Capability
-- S412E Multi-function Handheld Analyzer Meets Measurement Needs of Site Technicians and RF Engineers Responsible for LMR and Public Safety Networks --
MORGAN HILL, Calif., Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company introduces a series of enhancements, including a new APCO P25 Phase 2 (TDMA) signal analyzer and improved NBFM testing capability, for its LMR Master S412E. Adding these capabilities to the existing ninth generation platform further positions the S412E as the most complete handheld analyzer for ensuring the proper deployment, installation and maintenance of commercial Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and public safety networks used by first responders.

The added P25 Phase 2 support conforms to TIA.102-CCAA specifications and builds upon the LMR Master's existing P25 (TIA.102-CAAA-C) signal analyzer. It allows the user to test and verify the performance of both P25 FDMA and TDMA systems. Like all other LMR Master signal analyzers, the instrument offers an optional Coverage Analysis capability for analyzing RSSI, BER, and Modulation Fidelity of the system. The LMR Master's extended NBFM support includes the ability to generate CTCSS/DCS while in SINAD mode, as well as user-selectable C-Message filtering on SINAD. Other NBFM enhancements include the ability to adjust the deviation measurement to display a Peak, RMS, or Average value. Updated Quieting and SINAD GUIs improve usability by making measurements easier to make and read.
Anritsu has also enhanced the hardware of the LMR Master S412E to meet the TIA-603-D specification. Updated hardware on the Audio-In port supports voltages in excess of 1.77 Vrms, and presents an impedance of 50k ohms to be in compliance with TIA-603-D when users conduct SINAD and Quieting measurements. The LMR Master improved signal generator now offers a resolution of 0.1 dB down to -130 dBm signal levels.
A compact handheld multi-function analyzer specifically developed for technicians and engineers who install and maintain public safety, utility and private mobile communications systems, the LMR Master now offers a complete solution with support for Narrowband Analog FM, both FMDA and TDMA P25, NXDN™, ETSI DMR / MotoTRBO™, FD-LTE for FirstNet broadband public-safety LTE deployments, and the emerging Positive Train Control (ITC-R) standard. Combining signal and coverage analysis with the industry-leading vector network analysis capabilities of the Site Master™ and VNA Master™, as well as the field-proven spectrum analysis power of the Spectrum Master™ handheld instruments, the LMR Master S412E offers unmatched measurement breadth, depth, and precision. It reduces the number of tools needed to verify operation and diagnose problems by providing LMR professionals with a single instrument that covers all their field analysis needs.
LMR site technicians and RF engineers can use the S412E to accurately and quickly test and verify the installation and commissioning of base stations, mobile devices, and portable radios. It can analyze cable and antenna system performance, perform distance-to-fault analysis, identify and locate interference sources caused by intermodulation, and analyze the on-the-air performance of control channels and voice channels. With optional frequency extensions, the LMR Master is equally suited for commissioning, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of wireless network infrastructures, including broadband and microwave backhaul systems.
