Another Leading Banking and Financial Services Partner Joins Morrison & Foerster
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Dwight C. Smith, III has joined the firm's Financial Services group as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Smith represents domestic and global financial services firms of all sizes on regulatory matters, including those affecting their organization, structure, governance, management and operations. He has extensive experience advising financial institutions on transactional matters, including offerings and acquisitions. This is the second recent announcement by the firm in this important and growing practice, having named Charles Horn a partner in late January.

Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Smith was a partner of Alston & Bird LLP. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Chief Counsel for Business Transactions at the Office of Thrift Supervision in which capacity he oversaw all applications to enter the thrift industry, all mutual-to-stock conversions and significant mergers, acquisitions and offerings. Mr. Smith has also been recognized by the Chambers guide as a leading financial services regulatory lawyer.
