WASHINGTON, April 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rebuilding Together celebrates its annual National Rebuilding Day, a day of rebuilding homes and neighborhoods, and an accumulation of a month of service as part of April's National Rebuilding Month. The Rebuilding Together national network collectively completes 4,000 rebuilding projects for low-income homeowners in April each year.
Rebuilding Together and its 200 Rebuilding Together affiliates, with the help of 70,000 volunteers, rehabilitate and improve low-income homeowners and families' homes at no cost. Recipients of services include the elderly, people living with disabilities, military veterans, and families in need.
National Rebuilding Day is a cornerstone of Rebuilding Together's mission that everyone deserves a safe and healthy home, while also celebrating the impact on communities on a single day. Volunteers join local affiliate leaders to repair and restore houses and nonprofit facilities and revitalize entire communities.
"Rebuilding Together is proud to celebrate another successful National Rebuilding Day, which signifies the end to our month-long effort to raise awareness for the struggle of low-income homeowners and communities in-need," said Gary A. Officer, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. "70,000 volunteers have taken part in our call-to-service, and 4,000 projects have been completed due to their incredible skill and support."
National Rebuilding Month occurs every April, culminating with a final celebration and rebuilding day on the last Saturday in April. It is the result of a year's worth of planning, volunteer recruitment and sponsorship partnership to change homeowners' lives across the country. This month-long rebuilding event has witnessed entire communities transform, as grassroots efforts address the critical needs of communities.
National sponsors of Rebuilding Together include Sears, Lowe's, Sherwin-Williams, Honeywell, ConocoPhillips, Meredith Corporation, HGTV and DIY Network.
