Annual Masterpiece Event at the Coral Springs Museum of Art Raises Nearly $20,000 in Support of Art Education Programs
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Oct. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This year the Coral Springs Museum of Art welcomed over 150 South Florida art enthusiasts to travel back to the roaring '20s for the Museum's annual Masterpiece Event. This event, held on on September 17, 2016, raised nearly $20,000 in support of the Museum's innovative art education programs and exhibitions.
On this night, the Coral Springs Museum of Art transformed into a speakeasy style hideaway. Guests enjoyed a red carpet entrance, secret entry password, music, dancing, silent movie projections, hors d'oeuvres, hand-crafted signature cocktail, a balloon raffle, live auction and more, all in the spirit of supporting the arts.
"Our annual Masterpiece Event was wonderfully successful. It brought together artists, City staff, community officials and art supporters from Miami- Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties," said Julia Andrews, the Museum's Executive Director. "Everyone had a great time and we were able to raise an incredible amount of money to support educational art programming in Broward County."
In attendance was featured artist, Ira Bruce Reines, protégé of the incomparable Erté. He welcomed guests to the Museum's newest exhibit "A Reflection of Erté," and unveiled a piece that he donated with Masterpiece Publishing to the Museum's permanent collection.
This new exhibit now on display through November 20, 2016 features a selection of Erté sculptures, working drawings, tools and a large selection of works by contemporary master sculptor, Ira Bruce Reines. The exhibition explores the artistic heritage of art deco master Erté. At just 23 years of age, Reines was selected to work alongside the legendary Erté; the exhibit also explains the relationship between Erté and Reines and the process for creating bronze sculpture.
The annual Masterpiece Event could not have been possible without the support from Publix Super Markets Charities, Masterpiece Publishing, Broward County Cultural Division, Big Rooster's Southern Table, Coral Springs Festival of the Arts, and the City of Coral Springs.
