Annual Las Vegas Jewish Film Festival To Mark Its 18th Chai Anniversary

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas Jewish Film Festival (LVJFF), the longest running film festival in the area, will once again showcase informative and entertaining contemporary cinema for the entire community, January 10-27, 2019. LVJFF is best known for sharing insight into Jewish identity, history, and culture, while promoting solidarity with Israel and remembrance of the Holocaust. This year, the festival will honor the 11 victims of the mass shooting at Tree of Life in Pittsburgh. LVJFF hosts include the Israeli American Council, Holocaust Survivors Group, Anti-Defamation League, Temple Sinai, Temple Beth Sholom, Jewish Nevada, Consulate General of Switzerland, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

"The Museum" leads opening night, Thursday, January 10 at 7pm at the Century Theaters in South Point Hotel Casino. All films are free of charge and on a first come limited seating basis. Moderators will provide introductions and post-screening discussions. Also, in honor of the festival's 18th Chai anniversary year, the Las Vegas Review-Journal will present, "Balabustus", a new documentary highlighting historic influential Jewish women of Southern Nevada. It premieres Sunday, January 27 at 1 p.m. at Adelson Educational Campus, the official host venue for most of the festival screenings.

Other films in this year's lineup include "Shalom Bollywood", the untold story of Indian cinema and the Indian Jewish community's formative place in shaping the world's largest film industry. Also scheduled, "Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel", a stirring story of sports, patriotism and personal growth charting the underdog journey of Israel's national baseball team competing for the first time in the World Baseball Classic.
