WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading video platform company, Echo360, today announced a partnership with George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School to host the 2017 Active Learning Conference DC, which will focus on innovations in teaching and learning that leverage video, analytics, and active learning strategies to improve outcomes for today's modern learner. The conference will take place from October 2nd to October 3rd at the Antonin Scalia Law School campus in Arlington, VA.
"Research has demonstrated that the integration of active learning strategies into college classrooms is having a profound impact on engaging today's students, who are often juggling many responsibilities alongside school," said Henry N. Butler Dean of the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. "We are glad to partner with Echo360 to help bring the higher education community together to highlight effective practices and use of technology."
The conference draws hundreds of administrators and faculty from public and private four-year and two-year colleges and universities. This year's theme is "Future Proofing", and will include panels on topics like developing the technology infrastructure that supports pedagogical innovation, leveraging real-time analytics to inform instruction and student support, and the role of academic video in creating 24/7 access to course content.
Innovators like former University of Virginia President John Casteen, University of Toledo Assistant Provost Angela Paprocki, and Queen's University Dean of Law Bill Flanagan will share their perspective on what it takes to "future proof" higher education to better serve the diverse needs of tomorrow's students in a discussion hosted by Inside Higher Ed co-founder Doug Lederman. The two-day event will also include hands-on workshops and roundtables with video learning experts from Echo360 to discuss best practices in incorporating video into active learning classrooms.
"With so much to discuss and learn about the increasingly significant role of video content in education, we are especially excited to announce this year's Active Learning Conference DC," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "This conference will be a unique opportunity for the higher education community to come together, learn from each other, and discuss how colleges and universities can become "future proof" and use technology like our video platform to effectively respond to the rapidly changing needs of today's students."
Keeping with the theme of the conference, sessions will be captured on video and later distributed to those who are unable to attend.
