Honors Presented at AS12 Annual Awards & President's Dinner
BALTIMORE, Nov. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American College of Prosthodontists, through its awards program, formally recognizes individuals whose contributions to the specialty or to the College are outstanding and substantial. These individuals were recognized on Friday, Nov. 2 during the Annual Session 2012 Annual Awards and President's Dinner.
The ACP is proud to announce the following recipients:
Distinguished Lecturer Award
Charles J. Goodacre, D.D.S., M.S.D., F.A.C.P., is currently the Dean of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, Calif.
Distinguished Service Award
Gary R. Goldstein, D.D.S., F.A.C.P., maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics in New York City. A Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. Goldstein is the proud recipient of 6 teaching awards at NYU.
Dan Gordon Award (Lifetime Achievement)
Harold Litvak, D.M.D, M.S.D., is an alumnus of Tufts University and NYU. Currently, he is a Clinical Professor at New York University with 40 years of service. Dr. Litvak is former Director of the Occlusion section in Advanced Education in Prosthodontics at NYU.
Educator of the Year Award
Mathew T. Kattadiyil, D.D.S., M.D.S., F.A.C.P., is Director, Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University in Calif. He maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics. He is a graduate of Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India.
Clinician/Researcher Award
Radi M. Masri, D.D.S., M.S.,Ph.D., F.A.C.P., is Assistant Professor, the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry and its School of Medicine. Dr. Masri currently supervises a federally funded research laboratory that studies the etiology and treatment of chronic pain. He is an alumni of the University of Jordan Dental School and the University of Maryland.
Major General Bill B. Lefler Federal Services Award
Col. Alan J. Sutton, D.D.S., M.S., F.A.C.P., is a graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry and has had an active duty Air Force career. Currently, Col. (Dr.) Sutton is Director, Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Wilford Hall Medical Center and San Antonio Military Medical Center in Texas.
President's Award
Roy T. Yanase, D.D.S., F.A.C.P., is a Clinical Professor of Continuing Professional Education, Advanced Prosthodontic Education, and Director of the Odontic Seminar at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in Los Angeles, Calif. He founded the Osseointegration Study Club of Southern California and the Osseointegration Study Club of Japan.
Dental Technician Leadership Award
Ms. Elizabeth Curran, D.T., C.D.T, is Assistant Professor and the Director of Dental Laboratory Technology at A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Recipients received their award at this year's 42nd Annual Session held in Baltimore on Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. More than 1,000 dental professionals registered to attend, which included prosthodontists, dental technicians and other dental industry authorities and guests. Annual Session topics included: new developments in CAD/CAM technology and high-strength ceramics; creating affordable dental health opportunities; understanding the shift toward precision medicine in dentistry; the use of digital imaging; sleep apnea management; recreating nature: the harmony of function and esthetics with digital technology; and a proactive team approach to avoid pitfalls with the cost-effective All-on-4 Concept.
