SEATTLE, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Rhapsody, the original premium music service, announced selections for the fourth annual Rhapsody Radar program, which kicks off today. The program spotlights the industry's most exciting up-and-coming talent, handpicked by Rhapsody's veteran editorial team. Each year, Rhapsody's editorial staff gathers to negotiate, debate, and campaign for their favorite emerging artists until only the best remain. This year's list of artists features some of the brightest cross-genre talent from country and EDM to indie rock and experimental metal.

Unlike previous years, Rhapsody's editorial team worked closely with several Rhapsody Radar artists this summer to capture exclusive performances, interviews and curated playlists to bring listeners even closer to the music. This exclusive content will be rolled out during this year's four week series on Rhapsody.com and the YouTube playlist. Check back every Monday to see what's new.
"Rhapsody Radar is all about introducing music lovers to the up-and-coming talent that our editorial team is most excited about," said Paul Springer, Senior Vice President, Product at Rhapsody. "For our members, music is more than a catalog of 20 million songs, so programs like Rhapsody Radar give us a way to guide members to new music. We've found that the more new music people listen to, the faster they make music a daily habit."
Many of Rhapsody Radar's featured artists have gone on to widespread commercial and critical success, including Kendrick Lamar, Azealia Banks, Frank Ocean, and Foster the People, among others.
The Rhapsody editorial team is made up of music critics who are subject-matter experts in each genre included in Rhapsody Radar; artists were selected based on their critical and commercial strength. The four week series will feature six artists each week, highlighted by editorial and video content on Rhapsody's blog and YouTube channel.
