Announcing RemTECH, the First Awards to bring Innovation on Remittances Forward
Selection is now open. Nominees will be announced at the IMTC USA 2017 in San Francisco on June 13 and winners will be announced and awarded at the Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) in New York on June 15, 2017.
MIAMI, Feb. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Remittance Innovation Awards (RemTECH Awards) were developed by the remittance expert Hugo Cuevas-Mohr in partnership with Mohr World Consulting, IMTC Conferences and an alliance of patrons and sponsors. The aim of the Awards is to showcase the most innovative and outstanding models and projects designed to improve remittance services worldwide.
The awardees will be companies, groups, collectives or individuals who come up with ground-breaking solutions that benefit the market ecosystem, improving transparency, speed, cost and reliability for both companies and end-users that send and receive remittances every day.
The competition is open to contestants from all over the world. Entries will receive votes from the public and will be judged by an independent judging panel who will ultimately select the winners. The nominees are welcome to come to the IMTC USA 2017 in San Francisco on June 13, and to the formal RemTECH Awards Ceremony on June 15 at the GFRID2017 organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Bank and the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) in New York City. The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) will be celebrated on June 16 in the context of the GFRID, at the United Nations headquarters.
Independent judges include Luis Buenaventura, writer and bitcoin entrepreneur, Greta Geankoplis, blockchain and security expert, Faisal Khan & Leon Isaacs, industry consultants as well as Juan Llanos, Sofía Freyder, François Briod, Yakov Kofner and other forward looking individuals will be added in the following weeks to the 11 person Judging Panel.
Award categories include: (i) End User Experience, (ii) Social Impact, (iii) Marketing-Advertising, (iv) Innovative Agent Solution, (v) Back-Office Solution, (vi) RegTech/ Compliance, (vii) Social Impact, (viii) Business Service and (ix) an open category for out-of-the-box- ideas. All entries will compete for the People's Choice award and other unique awards such as Most Creative, Most Innovative Technology, Most Innovative Product, Most Innovative Service, Most Ready for Success, Most Marketable, The Leap-Forward Award, and Regional Best (Africa's, South Asia's, etc…). The judges will be also allowed to create other awards denomination to highlight ideas and initiatives. The Spark Group in New York City has been retained as Awards Advisors.
