What is Foodtopia?
Ranked by Fodor's as one of the top must-see destinations in the world in 2011, there is a must-taste side of Asheville that is fresh, delicious and ready to be discovered. Stretching back to George W. Vanderbilt's tradition of serving Biltmore guests culinary delights grown right on the estate, Asheville is a thriving farm-to-table community with 17 farmers tailgate markets, 250+ independent restaurants, 10 craft breweries, hands-on cooking classes, artisan food festivals and America's most-visited winery.
From haute cuisine to gastro-pubs to proud dives with lines out the door, the Asheville area is a culinary paradise full of food adventures. Around here, we like to say we live in a "Foodtopian Society," where the food is locally grown, lovingly prepared and each taste tells you something about the people who make it and the land where they live.
In Asheville, we believe good food is about sharing a piece of your heart. Try not to blush, Atlanta.
