Announcing … Kentucky Health Cooperative-Sponsored Photography Competition

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kentucky Health Cooperative, the Commonwealth of Kentucky's only nonprofit Consumer Oriented and Operated Plan (CO-OP), is sponsoring a photography competition centered on the themes of "Kentucky" and "Kentuckians." Six $100 Visa™ gift cards will be awarded to the winner in each of a half-dozen categories.

"The Kentucky Health Cooperative Photography Competition aims to recognize and reward the state's best photographers," said Glenn Jennings, the CO-OPs' interim Chief Executive Officer. "Here at the CO-OP, we are saying, 'Hit us with your best shot,'" Jennings quipped, referring to the invitation to shutterbugs of various ages and abilities to submit their best photographic still shots.

Winners' work will be displayed on the Kentucky Health Cooperative website (www.mykyhc.org) and in social media. The winning images will be printed, matted, framed and permanently displayed on the walls of the CO-OP's headquarters in Louisville.

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of out-of-state experts, who may represent museums, art galleries and the photography field. This panel will be tasked with determining which entries will advance to a semifinals level. Semifinalists' names will be placed into a random drawing of gift cards, with one winner representing each category described below. Entries, accepted through October 31, 2015, will represent the following categories:

Kentuckians – faces and portraits of Kentucky's people

• Category 1: Amateurs, ages 6-18 
• Category 2: Amateurs, ages 19+
• Category 3: Professionals, ages 19+

Kentucky – photos of places and things

• Category 4: Amateurs, ages 6-18 
• Category 5: Amateurs, ages 19+
• Category 6: Professionals, ages 19+

Submit photos before October 31, 2015 to be registered for a gift card. Each photo submitted is worth one entry into the drawing. Images will be accepted in .JPG, .TIF or .PNG format. Photos should be 300 dpi and contain no watermark. 

Winners will be announced in November.
