Anne Lieberman Joins WSPA as U.S. Executive Director

Lieberman brings 20 years of proven nonprofit experience to global animal welfare organization

BOSTON, March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) is pleased to announce that Anne Lieberman has joined the organization as executive director of the U.S. office.

Lieberman brings nearly 20 years of proven nonprofit experience to WSPA. She most recently served as vice president of development operations at the national environmental advocacy organization Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), whose revenue and staff doubled in size during her nine-year tenure.

"I am very confident in Anne's ability to lead and grow our U.S. office, given her past accomplishments at other notable nonprofit organizations," said Silia Smith, WSPA's Regional Director for North America. "Her expertise and ability to foster impactful programs will be invaluable to WSPA, particularly as we begin to launch new and ambitious campaigns to improve the lives of millions of animals worldwide."

Prior to EDF, Lieberman worked as the associate executive director of communications and development at the YWCA of the City of New York, where she raised $4 million annually and implemented several fundraising, marketing and communications programs. Before joining the nonprofit sector, she worked as a media consultant and writer for various groups, and a television producer and writer for several stations, including WNET/Thirteen.
