Athens, Tenn. vice mayor recognized for outstanding leadership in local government
SEATTLE, Nov. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Athens, Tenn. Vice Mayor Ann Scott Davis was selected today as the 2013 recipient of the Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award. The award was presented at the Women in Municipal Government's (WIMG) annual award luncheon and membership meeting. Vice Mayor Davis was recognized for her unique and outstanding leadership in local government and her role as a mentor for future female leaders.

Born and raised in Athens, Tenn., Vice Mayor Davis was first elected to the Athens City Council in 2008 and currently serves on NLC's Committee for Economic and Community Development and on the board of directors at the Tennessee Municipal League.
Over her distinguished career, Vice Mayor Davis served in a number of roles, including as executive director of the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum. She has also volunteered on various local, regional and state committees and boards including as president of the Tennessee Association of Museums.
Other finalists for this year's award were Lois Tarkanian, councilmember, Las Vegas, Nev. and Cathy Boring, councilmember, Dublin, Ohio.
Maud Daudon, president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, was this year's keynote speaker at the award presentation. Daudon assumed her current role after 10 years with the Seattle-Northwest Securities Corporation (SNW), a Seattle-based independent, employee-owned, regionally focused investment bank, broker-dealer and asset management firm specializing in debt securities and related businesses. As president and CEO of the firm, Daudon navigated the toughest period in financial services since the Great Depression.
