Anite's Host Based Test Solution Reduces Customers' Test and Development Time by 70%
FLEET, England, June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Chipset manufacturers can substantially reduce the cost, risk and time invested in developing new designs for wireless devices through the use of host-based testing, states Anite, a global leader in wireless device testing technology. Host-based Multi-RAT test solutions allow chipset software implementations to be tested in a PC environment, prior to silicon integration.
Anite's customers have been able to reduce test and development time by around 70%. The latest release of Anite's Development Toolset is unique in supporting pre-silicon multi-RAT testing in a host environment.
"Testing in a host environment is already giving some manufacturers the edge that others lack, with some of our customers claiming to have achieved over 70% time savings during software development" said Paul Beaver, Product Director at Anite. "Where a host approach isn't taken, testing is conducted on a target device - where the protocol software is integrated into the silicon. If there are any errors found at this stage the costs of re-spinning the silicon is very high and very time consuming. Each re-spin of a chipset typically takes four to six weeks. With wireless devices being developed faster - sometimes in a matter of months - these delays would directly impact a chipset manufacturer's bottom line and damage the reputation of the device manufacturers they supply by delaying the launch of their new devices."
"Anite leads this market by offering the only host-based testing solution that supports multi-RAT testing. The latest release of Anite's Development Toolset (DT) with our host platform, SAT(H) provides a complete host test environment for all multi-RAT test needs, supporting both LTE FDD and TDD bands," he continued.
The ability to provide multi-RAT protocol stack testing, allows for LTE, 3G and 2G tests to be performed through a single solution and in a host environment.
Anite's Development Toolset (DT) is a comprehensive suite of tools which support all phases of wireless terminal development, from pre-silicon protocol module development through to systems integration and verification. Used by the majority of leading chipset manufacturers worldwide and with an extensive LTE technology roadmap and a high level of flexibility and control in test creation, DT allows manufacturers to test according to their distinct specifications.
