Angelenos Start a GoFundMe Campaign to Deliver Water to Homeless Skid Row Residents
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yesterday, Angelenos Rachel Singer and Adam Catino launched a new GoFundMe campaign to raise money to deliver water to the homeless population on Skid Row as summer temperatures began to soar.
Singer and Catino initially delivered 100 bottles of water to Skid Row residents on a whim during a sweltering day. Seeing how great the need was, they turned to GoFundMe to raise money so they could help even more. They've raised nearly $3,000 in just over 24 hours and they're hoping to raise thousands more.
"If the GoFundMe community keeps sending money, we'll keep delivering water," said Adam Catino. "Rachel and I started with a few cases of water that were delivered in just a few minutes. We're hoping this provides some relief during the heat wave, but we also hope it raises awareness about the importance of taking care of the folks who need the most help in Los Angeles. We urge everyone in Los Angeles to pitch in. All of the funds raised will go directly to those in need and we hope donations continue to pour in."
