ANGA Talks Natural Gas Benefits at the Texas Tribune Festival
WASHINGTON, Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- America's Natural Gas Alliance's (ANGA) Texas State Lead David Blackmon issued the following statement on ANGA's participation in the inaugural Texas Tribune Festival this weekend. The festival will bring together a diverse group of participants to discuss the subjects that matter most to Texans and the U.S.: Energy & Environment, Race & Immigration, Education, and Health & Human Services.
"We are thrilled to be a part of the Texas Tribune's Inaugural Festival and look forward to engaging with fellow Texans on a range of issues affecting our state.
"Whether through interactions on social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, or in person with this impressive group of speakers and attendees, we are excited to discuss the important role natural gas can play. Natural gas offers great benefits, not just for our energy future and our environment, but also in providing jobs, supporting education and contributing to the lives of people in this great state. The festival also gives us an important chance to hear from people who live in communities where we work.
"Texas is our nation's No. 1 natural gas producer. The industry supports 12 percent of Texas jobs, including good-paying opportunities provided to diverse communities throughout the state. Revenue from our industry helps fund state and local services, including first responders and hospitals. Natural gas also supports teachers' jobs, and provides schoolbooks, supplies and special programs for students through the millions of dollars in property-tax revenue from producers of clean-burning natural gas every year.
"Through our participation in the Texas Tribune Festival we will have an opportunity to talk to Texans of all walks of life about the many benefits natural gas brings to our state's and our nation's economy, energy security and environment."
