Andy Leventhal Joins Recurve as New CEO
25-Year Software and Green Industry Veteran to Lead Company Growth
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Recurve, a San Francisco-based provider of home performance software and green energy remodeling services, today announced that software industry veteran Andy Leventhal has joined as CEO.
Mr. Leventhal joins Recurve at a crucial time in the company's growth. In April, Recurve began the beta launch of its software suite for home performance contractors. The company's successful beta program continues today with a national rollout on the horizon. Based on the company's years of experience as the largest home performance contractor on the West Coast, Recurve's software enables contractors to more accurately and profitably manage home energy auditing and retrofitting projects, meet state and federal standards and show homeowners how they can save money by making homes more energy efficient.
According to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), from 90 million US homes nearly $13 billion worth of energy in the form of heated or cooled air escapes through holes and cracks in residential buildings. Reducing energy use by 25% in these homes would reduce greenhouse gasses by the equivalent of taking 1/2 of US passenger cars off the road. Thousands of homeowners have already benefited and saved money by opting for energy efficiency improvements as a cost effective method for reducing energy use and greenhouse gases.
Leadership for a growing industry
In June, Recurve attracted $8 million in additional financing to meet growing demand as the home performance industry outpaces software solutions available today. Last month, Recurve's software was just one of four offerings to receive national accreditation by Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), the nationally recognized leader for home energy rating systems and energy efficient mortgages for the home performance industry, making Recurve one of only a few HOME STAR "ready" software packages available. Demand for Recurve's local home performance audit and construction services is also heating up, with San Francisco energy efficiency incentives and PG&E financing programs available now, and HOME STAR dollars gaining momentum on the national level.
"We're thrilled to add a CEO with Andy's caliber to grow Recurve to the next level. Andy has been there, done that in major market transformations in IT storage, data security, open source software and most recently as the founder of Planet Metrics, where his team figured out how to measure carbon and energy in the supply chain," said Matt Golden, founder and president of Recurve. "Our company is on its way to leading a new expansion in the home performance industry and Andy shares our vision that every contractor could benefit from our world class software and services as we take the rocket science out of building science. This is the needed boost that our maturing industry needs."
"The team at Recurve is nationally recognized for establishing and leading the home performance industry as both a quality provider of contracting and auditing services for homeowners and with software to equip any contractor with tools to move from audit to profitable, well-executed retrofit projects. Our software drives measurable financial and environmental results that every contractor needs in order to win more business from the homeowner," said Leventhal. "I am excited to draw upon my experience in leveraging the power of software to fuel the potential of this important industry."
Leventhal is a 25-year software entrepreneur with a track record in high growth markets and companies in their earliest stages. He worked for young start ups that grew to become industry leaders including EMC, VeriSign, Red Hat and Imperva. Andy's blend of strategic thinking and a hands-on approach has been instrumental in his ability to lead sales and strategic channel development efforts. He has been recognized internationally for his ability to develop new business models, alliance strategies, joint ventures, subsidiaries and OEM revenue. Most recently, Andy was the founder and CEO of Planet Metrics, the leader in the Carbon Information Management category, which he successfully sold to Parametric Technology in January 2010.
Leventhal replaces Pratap Mukherjee, who after helping with the transition will pursue other opportunities.
