Anbaric Sponsors Lawrence Youth through the SquashBusters MashUp
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass., Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Anbaric is proud to announce that the company will be the presenting sponsor of the fourth annual SquashBusters MashUp, which will take place on Sunday, December 11th at Brooks School and North Andover Country Club in North Andover, Massachusetts.
"We are happy to support a program like SquashBusters that strengthens our community with academic and athletic enrichment opportunities," said CEO Edward Krapels.
More than fifty squash and platform tennis players have come together to raise funds for the MashUp, a competition and fundraiser in support of SquashBusters Lawrence. Based in Lawrence, Massachusetts, SquashBusters Lawrence is a youth development program that uses the sport of squash, in combination with academic support and community service, to open doors to opportunity and prepare students for college. The funds raised by the MashUp directly benefit the 85 young people currently enrolled in the program, all of whom hail from the city of Lawrence.
The MashUp will kick off with a platform tennis competition at North Andover Country Club from 9AM-12PM, followed by a squash round-robin at Brooks School from 12PM-4PM. Players will include world-class squash and paddle professionals, recreational players who have fundraised for their spot on the team, and students from Brooks School, Phillips Academy, and SquashBusters Lawrence. Attendance at the MashUp is free, and all members of the community are welcome to attend.
The event has raised more than $225,000, with a little over one week left to reach its $275,000 goal.
"We are so grateful for Anbaric's commitment to empowering Lawrence youth to reach their fullest potential," said Dora Lubin, the program's Executive Director. "The young people in this program are the leaders of tomorrow, and the investment of companies like Anbaric will benefit not only our students, but the entire Lawrence and Merrimack Valley communities as a whole."
SquashBusters Lawrence is the second program site of SquashBusters, which was founded in Boston in 1996, and expanded to Lawrence in 2012. SquashBusters has served as the model for what has now become an international movement impacting the health, character and educational success of thousands of urban youth in more than twenty cities worldwide.
