Anaheim University Sets New Standard with First VP for Sustainability
ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On October 1st, 2010 online pioneer Anaheim University appointed Triple Bottom Line expert Professor David Bainbridge as Vice-President for Sustainability, marking what the University hopes will be a new direction for U.S. higher education.
According to Anaheim University President Dr. William Hartley, who earned his MBA at UC Berkeley, and his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, and spent his academic career on traditional campuses including the State University of New York, "The time has come for change in the way we do things in Higher Ed. A number of top universities in the United States have begun to offer programs in the area of Sustainability, but it is time for us to practice what we teach. Our administration, faculty and students at the university have embraced our 2020 Vision towards sustainability. As being sustainable is part of the University's Mission Statement, it seemed only natural to appoint a Vice-President for Sustainability. This provides me with an open line of communication with our sustainability team, and allows for much faster progress when it comes to implementing university-wide sustainability practices." The sustainability initiative will involve all of the university programs.
