ANA Opts for Additional 767-300ER Blended Winglets
FARNBOROUGH, England, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- ANA recently exercised options to purchase Blended Winglets for installation on five new 767-300ER's that are scheduled to deliver from Boeing starting in 2011. Added to their initial order of four, finalized in August 2009, this new order brings ANA's commitment for 767-300ER Blended Winglets to nine systems. ANA is scheduled to start their first installation of 767-300ER Blended Winglets in September of this year.
"We are both honored and delighted to see ANA increase their commitment to our 767 winglet program before they have even begun their first installation", says John Reimers, CEO of Aviation Partners Boeing (APB). "We are sure that ANA's confidence in APB will be rewarded by the performance and environmental benefits they experience operating with 767 winglets."
ANA is the first 767-300ER operator in Asia to order Blended Winglets. First installation is planned at ANA's facility at Haneda, Tokyo. Blended Winglets provide numerous benefits, all of which result in economic and environmental improvements. Enhanced aircraft takeoff performance, reduced fuel consumption, improved range capability, and reduced emissions provided by APB's patented technology all support ANA in maintaining its position as an efficient airline that is very conscientious about its impact on the environment.
More than 3,600 Blended Winglet Systems are now in service with over 120 airlines in more than 80 countries. APB estimates that Blended Winglets have saved airlines worldwide more than 2.1 billion gallons of jet fuel to-date. Aviation Partners Boeing is a Seattle based joint venture of Aviation Partners, Inc. and The Boeing Company.
