- Select auction vehicles, including President Trump's former Ferrari, available for preview at Florida's Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, March 11
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The countdown is underway to Auctions America's 15th annual Fort Lauderdale collector car sale, March 31-April 2. Celebrated as South Florida's premier collector car auction, the event doubles as one of the region's leading car shows, and with good reason—with 475 collector vehicles expected, it provides a wonderful showcase of automotive history and design.
One of this year's more unique offerings is a 2000 Cadillac Deville DHS, originally owned by late Senator and pioneering astronaut, John Glenn. Glenn always owned Cadillacs and the car on offer represents his final purchase. Highly advanced for its time, it was ordered fully-loaded, complete with night vision radar and hands-free system, which when activated, responds using John's voice. It comes to auction in excellent condition, offered by its current proprietor who purchased the car directly from Glenn in 2006, promising to care for it until his passing. Presented not far from where its original owner set out to become the first American to orbit the Earth, it is expected to fetch $50,000 - $75,000.
For those drawn to vehicles with significant ownership, the Fort Lauderdale auction also features a 2007 Ferrari F430 F1 Coupe purchased new by President Donald Trump, as documented by a personal vehicle title bearing his New York City Trump Tower address and distinctive signature (Est. $250,000-$350,000). Showing less than 6,000 miles from new, it will be available for early preview at this weekend's Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance (March 11), alongside another star of the upcoming sale, an iconic 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, one of just 26 built for the final year of production (Est. $1,250,000 - $1,500,000).
Other perennial auction favorites set for Auctions America's Fort Lauderdale podium include a beautifully restored 1965 Shelby Cobra, CSX 2442, equipped with its original 289-cid V-8 engine (Est. $1,000,000 - $1,150,000), and a series of 26 Porsches and select automobilia from the JLG Autocrib Collection. The group spans 48 years of Porsche production—a marque that continues to make waves in the market—from a 1955 356 1600 Speedster through to a 2003 996 Turbo.
Auctions America is also proud to lend its auction services to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation via the sale of a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro at Fort Lauderdale.
