An American Abroad Returns to the U.S. to Start Career As a Professional Massage Therapist
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- When Megan Kipp moved to Barcelona, Spain to teach business English, she always thought at some point she would go back to her first love of teaching fitness, yoga and aerobics.
"When I returned to the U.S., I settled in Nashville and took a job as public relations coordinator for a broadcast and cable manufacturing company, but the busy schedule of work and travel convinced me I wanted to pursue a career where I would be my own boss," she says. Having always maintained her personal yoga practice, and teaching on and off through the years, Kipp decided to quit her corporate job and travel to India to complete her yoga teaching training.
It was during that time that she decided to marry her interest in health and fitness with massage therapy. "I wanted to utilize my intuitive understanding of the human body and passion for personal development, therapy and wellness," says Kipp, a graduate of Cortiva Institute- Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy in King of Prussia.
Today, her dream of being her own boss has come true. She runs her own yoga and massage therapy business called Yogassage and works as a massage therapist at Lux Spa and Fitness in Center City Philadelphia in the Omni Hotel. Lux Spa offers its clients massage modalities such as Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports and training, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Esylen, and hydrotherapy.
"It's been a great personal and professional journey for me and one that I owe in large part to the faculty at Cortiva who not only taught me the skills to be a professional massage therapist, but offered advice, counsel and guidance along the way," says Kipp.
