An Allergy Season First: New Honeywell Bluetooth® Smart Air Purifier Auto-Adjusts to Local Pollen Counts
Companion mobile app controls True HEPA Air Purifier filtration through local allergen data and offers customizable run-time schedules
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The new Honeywell Bluetooth® Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover, available exclusively at Best Buy, is the first air purifier utilizing Bluetooth® technology to track local pollen counts via a free mobile app and auto-adjust its cleaning levels accordingly. This technology provides homeowners with unprecedented insights into how their indoor air quality may be affected by outdoor allergens such as mold and pollen from trees, grasses and weeds. By utilizing the Allergen Alerts and Auto-set mode, users can customize their units to auto adjust cleaning level according to allergen levels in a specific zip code. Never before has this level of air quality customization opportunity within the home existed.
"Indoor air can be up to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air due to factors like pets, cleaning solutions and sprays, paints, cooking odors and smoke. Outdoor air that enters into the home also presents a host of other issues, particularly for allergy sufferers when pollen counts are high," says Dr. Ted Myatt, ScD, a microbiologist and air quality expert with Environmental Health & Engineering. "It's important for individuals and families to understand the causes of poor air quality issues in the home and find effective solutions. A True HEPA air purifier with an odor reducing carbon pre-filter will capture 99.97 percent of air particles, as small as 0.3 microns, from the air that passes through its filters, including dust, pet dander, smoke, and pollens."
The Honeywell Bluetooth® Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover and free companion app contain unique functionality, personal customization and control, including:
- Allergen Alert Settings – notify homeowners of outside pollen and mold levels in the neighborhood and surrounding area based on zip code
- Auto Operation – automatically adjusts cleaning levels for airborne allergens, based on local pollen and mold levels, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
- Proximity Sensor – automatically turns the air purifier on or off when the connected mobile device enters or leaves Bluetooth® range (up to 30 feet or more)
- Custom Operation Schedules – allows users to create daytime or nighttime schedules based on sleep, time away, or time spent in a certain area of the home
- Filter Change Reminders – notifies users when the True HEPA filter has collected the maximum amount of allergens and irritants, including a quick web link for replacement filter purchases
The Honeywell Bluetooth® Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover is available exclusively at Best Buy stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $249.99. The free companion mobile app is compatible with more recent Apple® iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Mini®, iPod Touch® and Android™ devices
