Amyris Joins Diesel Technology Forum
WASHINGTON, July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Amyris, Inc., (NASDAQ: AMRS), a renewable chemicals and fuels company, is the newest member of the Diesel Technology Forum (DTF), a non-profit organization that promotes the use of the latest clean diesel technologies in the United States.
"In the rapidly developing field of renewable fuels, Amyris has distinguished itself as a leader in producing and commercializing second-generation renewable fuels," said Allen Schaeffer, the Executive Director of the Forum. "Amyris's work to reduce emissions and petroleum consumption by producing a drop-in renewable diesel fuel exemplifies the creativity and innovation that continues to drive clean diesel technology. Advanced second-generation biofuels such as those produced by Amyris have broad market appeal in the U.S. and around the world, and are particularly interesting for truck fleets, public transit and other diesel-powered applications."
"We are excited to work with the Diesel Technology Forum to expand and advance the use of clean diesel fuels in the United States. Amyris's plant-based pure hydrocarbon renewable diesel fuel does not require engine or infrastructure modifications," said John Melo, CEO of Amyris, Inc. "Amyris's renewable diesel's proven superior cold weather performance, high cetane and comparable energy density to petroleum diesel have enabled us to obtain the highest blending registration currently certified by the U.S. EPA. OEM partners affirm that our fuels eliminate the performance challenges of first generation biofuels while still enabling dramatic reductions in greenhouse gas and tailpipe emissions."
Since it was founded in 2000, the DTF has emerged as a leading source of information on clean diesel and energy issues and regularly participates in legislative and regulatory deliberations, technology demonstrations and industry and media events.
The DTF brings together a broad range of diesel stakeholders including diesel users, public and environmental interest groups and government officials to encourage the exchange of information and ideas about the use of diesel technology. Elected officials, regulators, members of the media and other opinion leaders count on the Forum for data, insight and expert commentary.
Forum members are leaders in clean diesel technology and represent the three key elements of the modern clean-diesel system: advanced engines, vehicles and equipment and cleaner diesel fuel and emissions-control systems. For more information, visit www.dieselforum.org.
