Amy Guth Appointed General Manager of RedEye and Metromix
CHICAGO, Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Tribune Media Group announced today the appointment of Amy Guth as General Manager of RedEye and Metromix.
"Amy is at the forefront of all things social media and has a great understanding of how to compete in the digital space," says Joseph Schiltz, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Targeted Media for the Chicago Tribune Media Group. "Her past experience working with print and online media, along with her tendency to think out of the box, makes her an ideal candidate to lead the RedEye team into the future."
Guth joins the RedEye team after serving as Social Media and SEO Manager for the Chicago Tribune Media Group since early 2011, and co-writing the weekly "So Social" column for Tribune newspapers. In that role, she developed and applied social media and SEO tactics to support the company's digital strategy and adapt to evolving reader and industry behavior.
Prior to that role, she worked in the newsroom's books section as Digital Editor, covering local literature and the then-rise of digital publishing, and was named to New City's Lit 50 literary leaders list. Guth also co-hosted programming on WGN-AM and helped in the early content development phases of Chicago Now, upon joining the Tribune in 2009.
"The RedEye brand has enthusiastic and loyal customers," Guth said. "At its core, RedEye is an already-thriving multi-platform business network in Chicago and my plan is to make it an even bigger one."
Prior to Tribune, Guth founded Pilcrow Lit Fest, a successful independent press publishing festival, where she developed an online and event-based community for small publishers, authors and local brands to connect and collaborate meaningfully around important industry topics. As a former chef and event producer, Guth has a diverse background working across several business industries with an entrepreneurial passion and mindset best matched for the RedEye brand.
