SEATTLE, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Amnis Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced cell imaging systems, today announced record 2009 sales results. The successful launch of the ImageStreamX imaging flow cytometer resulted in annual sales growth in excess of 75% and the company's first cash flow positive quarter. Strong early sales for the new instrument consumed the company's manufacturing capacity for 2009 and well into 2010.
"We designed the new ImageStreamX platform to be ten times faster and much more powerful than the product it replaces while lowering the price by nearly a third. Given this tremendous value proposition, we expected an uptick in sales but our expectations were tempered by the difficult economic conditions throughout 2009," said David Basiji, Ph.D., Amnis' President and Chief Executive Officer. Basiji added, "Needless to say, we're thrilled with 75% sales growth in 2009 and we continue to see strong demand in early 2010."
"We've crossed the cash flow break even point and we're looking at full year profitability in 2010," remarked William Ortyn, Amnis' co-founder and Chief Operating Officer. "The ImageStreamX has crossed several performance thresholds opening new market segments for Amnis," added Ortyn.
