AMI Increases Efficiency With Integrated RIS/PACS From Sectra
SHELTON, Connecticut, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International medical technology company, Sectra (http://www.sectra.com/medical/) (NASDAQ OMX Stockholm: SECT B), announces the completion of its RIS installation at Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI) (http://www.amiradiology.com/), Silverdale, WA. Sectra RIS with embedded voice recognition and single-desktop integration to the existing Sectra PACS has enabled AMI, after only two months, to improve the scheduling process, information access, and speed report turnaround.
"Sectra RIS makes it very easy for the staff across AMI's four sites to access real-time patient, exam and report status information from one place," says Susan Perkins, operations director, Advanced Medical Imaging. "The system supports us in monitoring key activities, such as report turnaround, to make sure nothing falls through the cracks," adds Perkins.
Increased radiologist efficiency and enhanced service to referring physicians, available through online ordering and report access and enhanced reports with embedded key images and technologist notes, were the principle criteria for AMI in their evaluation process. Radiologists also benefit from single-desktop integration to their existing Sectra PACS and embedded speech recognition in the RIS.
"The scheduling tool is very robust with several features that help us increase our efficiency, such as the ability to lock out other users, and ease of scheduling linked appointments for the same patient," explains Perkins.
During the implementation process, Sectra helped AMI re-engineer its workflow in order to maximize the productivity improvements achievable with the RIS. "Sectra's project management was great, they provided guidance every step of the way, and kept everyone on task," says Perkins. "Every new system go-live has issues, but Sectra was incredibly quick to resolve these," adds Perkins.
Sectra also developed bi-directional interfaces from its RIS/PACS solutions to AMI's mammography, billing and a local hospital information system. Six years worth of RIS data was migrated to the new system as part of the project.
