AMI and Cumulus Launch Country Weekly Branded Radio Segments
NEW YORK, Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American Media, Inc., publishers of the leading print and digital celebrity, health and fitness magazines in the United States and Cumulus Media Inc., the country's largest pure-play radio broadcaster, today announce the launch of a branded new radio segment, "News from Country Weekly Magazine." These minute-long segments are broadcast daily on more than 80 country music radio stations beginning today.
The segments, originally hosted by country radio personality Lisa Manning on WSM-FM in Nashville, feature stories from Country Weekly, the No. 1 country music magazine, and will air multiple times in morning and afternoon drive time.
"News from Country Weekly Magazine" is part of the ongoing collaboration that American Media and Cumulus announced in May. "This partnership presents a unique opportunity to give our audience an in-depth and 'insider' look at country music news reports, programs, features and interviews, drawing upon Country Music Media Group's extensive newsgathering expertise, contacts and editorial strengths," commented David J. Pecker, Chairman, President and CEO of American Media, Inc.
"As the nation's number one broadcaster of country music, we're committed to entertaining and informing our listener in creative ways that continue to make Cumulus stations important parts of the communities they serve," said John Dickey, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Cumulus.
Each segment of "News from Country Weekly Magazine" will conclude with: "For more news about your favorite stars, pick up this week's issue of Country Weekly Magazine" and will direct listeners to countryweekly.com. DJs on the stations carrying the program can also interview Country Weekly editors to discuss breaking news from the world of country music. Other notable features include live excerpts of upcoming red carpet CMA-style events.
Country Weekly is the only weekly publication in the United States dedicated to country music, covering everyone from traditional legends such as George Strait, Reba McEntire, and Alan Jackson to today's superstars such as Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. As the popularity of this genre continues to soar, Country Weekly is right in the center of this dynamic culture.
