AMFA Founder Delle-Femine Passes
AURORA, Colo., May 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It is with a heavy heart that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) announces the passing of our founder, O.V. Delle-Femine. Dell, as he was affectionately known by members and supporters alike, succumbed to illness on Thursday afternoon after putting up the toughest fight of his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dell's family, friends, and supporters during this difficult time.
Over 50 years ago the vision of a craft specific union for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and Related employees became a reality, due in large part to Dell. He worked tirelessly to create AMFA, and to promote and defend the craft. From humble beginnings and through difficult times such as de-regulation and other industry changes, Dell's love for our craft was evidenced by the many personal sacrifices he made for AMFA. His legacy will surely continue on as the contributions he made to the craft will be felt for years to come. More information on Dell's history can be found on AMFA's website at www.amfanational.org in the "about us" section.
The family is holding a private ceremony; however, the NEC will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Dell at a later date-the specifics will be posted on the website at www.amfanational.org. In the meantime, and in lieu of cards and flowers, we greatly appreciate you visiting our Facebook page and posting what Dell meant to you and the profession.
The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association was established in 1962 as a craft specific union that represents Aircraft Maintenance Technician and related employees. AMFA currently represents these skilled employees at Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines. For more information about AMFA visit www.amfanational.org.
