ARLINGTON, Va., April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations and America's Road Team hosted U.S. Department of Transportation employees and their children in ATA's Interstate One Image Truck at DOT headquarters as part of "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day."
"ATA was grateful to be invited by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to represent the trucking industry at DOT's family-friendly event, and we think America's Road Team did a great job showcasing our industry to the sons and daughters of transportation officials," said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear.
Interstate One, ATA's touring image truck featuring a truck driving simulator and classroom-on-wheels, was parked outside the DOT's Navy Yard facility. Staff members and their families were given an opportunity to speak to truck drivers about their careers as safe, essential professionals and learn about the critical role drivers and the trucking industry play in the nation's economy.
"It's a great feeling to know that you are helping create lifelong memories for young people, and I think that's what we did here today," said America's Road Team Captain Bill Krouse of YRC Freight. "The future drivers we interacted with today will hopefully remember the importance of trucks and the kind, friendly faces of truck drivers as they grow into young adults."
In March, ATA's Interstate One Image Truck and America's Road Team appeared on the White House South Lawn at the invitation of President Trump. America's Road Team Captains continue to travel throughout the country, spreading important messages about trucking's strong safety record, essentiality and the professionalism of truck drivers.
The America's Road Team, sponsored by Volvo Trucks, is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway.www.americasroadteam.com.
