America's Natural Gas Alliance Names Peter Robertson to Lead its Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Efforts
WASHINGTON, May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- America's Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) today named Peter Robertson, a former top official at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a leading government affairs veteran, to be its Senior Vice President of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Robertson will start with ANGA on May 14.
Robertson most recently served as partner and co-leader of the Public Policy Practice Group at the law firm Crowell & Moring in Washington, D.C. As an attorney in private practice, he has advised corporations and trade associations on climate and energy policy and Fortune 50 companies on chemical regulations. During the Clinton Administration, he served as Chief of Staff to EPA Administrator Carol Browner and he later became Deputy Administrator. He also has extensive Capitol Hill experience, having worked in the House of Representatives for seven years, including five years with the House Budget Committee.
"Peter's knowledge of energy and environmental policy and government affairs, coupled with his deep understanding of the many benefits of natural gas, make him uniquely qualified for this position," said ANGA President and CEO Regina Hopper. "His experience working on these issues, in both the private and public sectors, will be a great asset in raising the profile of natural gas with lawmakers and policymakers as we work together to advance our clean energy future."
Robertson joins ANGA as the association seeks to increase awareness of the game-changing nature of the North American shale plays, which have unlocked vast domestic supplies of natural gas - enough to power our nation for generations to come. Natural gas currently is underutilized in the United States, meaning a greater use of this abundant domestic resource would begin immediately to reduce harmful emissions.
"Natural gas offers the American people and our country an important opportunity to clean our air, drive our economy forward and improve energy security," Robertson said. "I am convinced that policies that take full advantage of our abundant domestic natural gas resource can make a real and positive difference in our energy future, and I look forward to making that case with members of Congress, their staffs and with members of the Administration."
Robertson earned a bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Oklahoma and a juris doctorate degree cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center.
