America's grilling authority is sharing new secrets for making grilled food more flavorful, juicy and tender. Set to be a favorite grilling secret for this year, Just Add Juice™ is the first and only marinade mix created to blend with juice – not oil. Also new, an all-natural BBQ Sauce is made with real molasses as opposed to the high fructose corn syrup that's used by many other brands.
The latest survey from Weber® shows that over half of Americans grill more than five times a month during the summer and admit to having a golden "grilling secret." Most grillers claim their secret is a special ingredient and many say that they experiment with using juices as marinades. This simple insight was the key to the development of new Just Add Juice™, the first and only marinade mix formulated to blend with a variety of juices rather than oil, making it easy for grillers to add a fresh, juicy flavor to their foods.
This summer, Weber® Sauces & Seasonings is teaming up with "Queen of the Grill" Elizabeth Karmel – the author of "Taming the Flame" and Executive Chef at New York's Hill Country Barbecue Market and Hill Country Chicken. She is sharing her most prized grilling secrets and recipes to make anyone the queen or king of their own grill.
"My secrets and techniques may seem different than what you've heard or read, but I promise you, they work," Karmel said. "They serve as a road map to get superior grilling results more quickly and efficiently."
When it comes to flavor, Karmel says Weber® Just Add Juice™ is a great point of culinary departure. "The Just Add Juice™ marinade is great as a simple lemon-pepper chicken, but I experiment with it, as well. For example, I love to start with the Caribbean jerk variety, add orange juice, a little dark rum, scotch bonnet peppers and scallions for a quick flavor trip to the islands."
Another grilling secret coming out in 2012 is Weber® new BBQ Sauce, made with real molasses. Unlike most of the leading brands in barbecue sauce, Weber® BBQ Sauce is made with real molasses and contains no high fructose corn syrup. Using molasses means that the sauce sticks to food rather than dripping into the grill; and because Weber® BBQ Sauce contains no artificial preservatives, flavors or ingredients, it is deliciously all natural.
"As a southerner, I'm a big fan of molasses," Karmel said. "It has a richer, more complex flavor and the molasses is the key to creating a distinct, robust taste that you can't get from high fructose corn syrup."
Karmel and the Weber® brand hope that by revealing their grilling secrets, Americans will be inspired to share their flavor findings in a new nationwide "Grilling Secrets" Facebook contest, which is slated to kick off May 2012. The contest will celebrate backyard cooks' ingenuity, and every week from June 1 to July 30, 2012, Facebook fans that submit the best tip will be selected to win a Weber® Smokey Joe® grill. For the ultimate grand prize, Facebook users can cast votes for their favorite grilling tip, awarding five winners a Weber® Genesis Grill.
