LUBBOCK, Texas, April 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant, which has consistently been voted the #1 Mexican Restaurant in America, will celebrate the opening of its newest location in Katy with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, April 18 at 4:45 p.m.
The Katy Chamber of Commerce will host the ribbon cutting at Abuelo's, which is located at the Shoppes at Parkwest at 24600 Katy Freeway in Katy. Representatives from Child Advocates of Fort Bend, a non-profit organization that provides a voice, heals the hurt and breaks the cycle of abuse and neglect for all children in Fort Bend County, will also attend the event.
Abuelo's recent pre-opening events raised $7,500 to benefit Child Advocates of Fort Bend, and the restaurant's management team and employees will present the organization with a check at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
"We raised a significant amount of money for a very deserving charity and had a lot of fun in the process," said Robert Lin, president of Food Concepts International, Abuelo's parent company. "The local community showed wonderful support for Child Advocates of Fort Bend. We are thrilled to be able to benefit this outstanding organization that does such great work for children."
"Child Advocates of Fort Bend was honored to have been selected by Abuelo's as the beneficiary of their opening weekend," said Ruthanne Mefford, CEO of Child Advocates of Fort Bend. "We are so grateful for Abuelo's support of children who have been abused and neglected in our community. This donation of $7500 will help 50 children in foster care be matched with a community volunteer (called a CASA) to provide them a voice and ensure their needs are met. It will also help 25 children receive therapy to heal the hurt from abuse at our Children's Advocacy Center in Rosenberg. Abuelo's has made a huge difference in the lives of child victims who so desperately need support and healing."
Abuelo's has consistently been voted the #1 Mexican Restaurant in America by consumers since 2006, as published in the nation's most respected consumer rating magazine. The restaurant's fresh, made-from-scratch menu selections combine authentic standards with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine.
