- 27,000 unwanted DVDs/CDs/Video Games sold through Decluttr.com
- Backstreet Boys, Pirates Of The Caribbean top titles dumped by Americans this holiday season
ATLANTA, Dec. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For Americans looking to dump their unwanted entertainment media properties this holiday seasons, the Backstreet Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean and Call of Duty Black Ops all topped the unwanted list, according to Decluttr, an online service that buys unwanted DVDs, CDs and video games from consumers.
In all, a record number of unwanted holiday media gifts have already been traded in on decluttr.com this year. Figures released from the company show that over 27,146 unwanted presents were sold since Christmas Day, a 48% increase from last year. Of these, 54 percent were CD's, 42 percent were DVD's and just four percent were Video Games.
As the rest of the nation tucked into Christmas Dinner or hit the post holiday sales, savvy Americans turned to decluttr.com to convert presents which failed to hit the mark into easy cash.
"Typically, we see consumer interest in selling CDs and DVDs because they're looking to thin out their collections at home," said Brett Lauter, president of Decluttr. "And this holiday season, it's no different."
According to Decluttr's trade in figures, the "Most Unwanted CD" this holiday season is Backstreet Boys Millennium. (This, compared to 2014's most traded in CD, which was Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette.) The "Most Unwanted DVD" this holiday season is Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl. This was also, incidentally, the most traded in DVD in all of 2014 on Decluttr. And finally, the "Most Unwanted Video Game" this holiday season was Call Of Duty Black Ops Xbox 360 (while for all of 2014 the most traded in video game was Wii Just Dance 2.)
Decluttr is an online service that allows people to turn their unwanted DVDs, CDs and video games into cash. Consumers like it because it's a quick, easy, one-stop selling resource that allows consumers to simply put all their unwanted media items into a single box, call UPS and have it processed by Decluttr and a check is sent within weeks.
